I hope you will visit these sponsors sites and give them your business. Without their help this walk would not have been possable. Each one has supported me, my projects and believes that we can make a difference in the lives of children!
I walked 280 miles from Tampa to Tallahassee!
Next year I would like to start at the Florida State Capitol and walk to Atlanta! I want to raise enough money for Habitat For Humaniity to be able to build a house for a family. When I decided to do charity work that is what I told my Mom I wanted to do and she said I should start a little smaller so I did but now I am ready. Next year November 1, 2008 thru November 29, 2008. Now I just have to get the sponsors and talk my Mom into it!
I want to thank everyone along the way of my walk that helped me. All my sponsors! My Mom and my sister Kelley, without them I could have never done this walk. I also want to thank the Florida Homeless Collation that really stepped in and helped me out when I needed it! Kim Freeman who set up my last mile and Kristi, Howard, Jay, Dana and Billy from Lazydays who believed in me when most would not have. Cracker Barrel, Publix and McDonalds that kept me fed. Smithfield and Build a Bear that will help me provide a most excellent Holiday party for some awesome kids in the FEMA trailers in La. Dick's and Sports Authority that kept my feet comfy. Virgin Mobile that kept me in touch. Do something that helped pay my way and to all the others.
I bet you are wondering why I walked 280 miles, 11 to 16 miles a day, for 23 days.
Why I would give up my 10th Birthday with my friends and family and spend Thanksgiving out in some remote part of Florida walking in the rain.
The reason is simple....1.3 million kids are homeless. 13 of those kids die everyday from life on the streets.
So the real question is how can I not walk if it will make a difference even to just one of those kids.
If one person comes to this site and gets a new understanding... These kids are not living on the streets because they want to but because they feel they have no other choice.
Congress felt it was important enough to make November National Homeless Youth Awareness, so please join me in showing we think it is important too!
Together I know we can make a difference. If you can't walk with me than please support me as I walk by make a donation. The money we raise will be used to help homeless kids!
